Hi,

 

I should warn you that I work for a Competitor of Euro! so I am naturally going to recommend using another supplier!

 

I have also looked at Euro's driveshafts, they look the part & appear to offer value for money!

 

What concerns me though, is that our Supplier of Driveshafts lists DIFFERENT part numbers for left and right and manual or auto box.

Euro only appear to list "one for all" on their website.

 

The BHP also affects which shaft is fitted. The only model where LH & RH shafts are the same is the 90BHP Manual.

 

My recommendation to you would be to visit your nearest Unipart Automotive Branch, along with your old shaft and your vehicle details, one of our technical team will take a look for you.

 

The Shafts for the manual are pretty well stocked across our branches, with access to network stock several times a day.

 

It will cost more than Euro, but they are a very reliable product and meet OE specification.

Aftermarket suppliers often supply a single part to cover a number of OEM parts.

 

For example, where an OEM driveshaft is specified to suit the power output of a particular engine, the part for the largest engine may simply be a beefed up version of the part for the smaller engine. It is perfectly feasible to supply one part which will cover all engine types, reducing the number of shafts which need to be manufactured. Even when different part numbers are specified, the same parts can be inside the box.

 

Main dealers also do this with some parts now, especially on older models.

 

For the OP, I would try another motor factor, take the shaft along along and check it against the driveshaft they supply. If seems unlikely that you would have both a non-standard driveshaft and gearbox shaft flange.

I take on board what you say regarding all the different versions, one is of course bhp.

Where do I find the engine identification markings also there is the 90, 115 & 130bhp.

As I understand there are 3 engine types anu,auy & asz could any one of these engine be any of the three bhp or is this to signify which, could anyone explain.

ANU is the older engine, found mainly in the Mk1 and is 90bhp (I think)

AUY is the most common Mk2 variant and that's the 115

ASZ is the 130bhp version

and

ASZ1 is the 150bhp version.

Hi Bob

These are the MK2 diesel codes 90=ANU 115=AUY 130=ASZ 150=ARL

It should show your engine code on your registration document
