Davehillbo Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Hi all, I think I may have a split vacuum hose on my 1.9TDI, black smoke when accelerating, loss of power, vagcom finds no faults, just wondering if anyone has a pic of where these hoses are located. Many thanks David. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Lots of small vacuum hoses behind heat shield on bulkhead (behind EGR valve)have you replaced air filter recently? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Good idea to do air filter first and check make sure nothing obstructing inlet Quote
Davehillbo Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 Good idea to do air filter first and check make sure nothing obstructing inlet Hmmm out of curioisty I unplugged the MAF and ran it without it, and it seemed to stop the smoke! Could it be the maf? David. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 It could be, try spraying the maf first with a solvent cleaner and let it air dry before refitting it dont touch the maf probe they are delicate Quote
Davehillbo Posted September 23, 2011 Author Report Posted September 23, 2011 Tempted to get a new MAF, the old one was some dodgy copy off ebay :) Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 Are now you should have said that first, I bought one of those ebay cheapies a few years ago for an intermittent fault it ran worse with that one.Ended up buying a genuine bosch unit been OK since . Quote

Davehillbo Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 Woo, changed MAF to a second hand bosche one off ebay, and its now driving perfectly! On a seperate note, had cambelt changed early this year, and for some reason it seems slightly sluggish to what it used to be before the change, especially in third, any ideas? David. Quote

Hmmm i think you might be right, very small ammounts of white smoke now coming from exhaust, couldnt see this before because of the faulty MAF pumping black out lol Quote
