HI Can any one help me ive have a 2001 tdi Galaxy the of the mk1s and shes done 110000 mls and when shes warm runs well, although when the outside temp gets below freezing and shes stood all night on start up what sounds and feels like the engine oil is froze and she runs very lumpy and gets worse as you rev up but after 5-10 mins of running it stops and will be ok all day, the reason iam putting this on now is i want to sort it before winter. The car gets regulary serviced and i use 5/30 oil although i doubt very much that the oil will freeze also i think that the coolant pre heater is not working as the heater takes a very long time to heat up. I would be very Happy if anybody can please help.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

Could be worth checking your glow plugs, even though your car may be starting OK without to much cranking, after the engine has started the glow plugs continue on for several minutes depending on outside air temperature and regardless of glowplug warning light.

One or more plugs not working will give an engine misfire and higher exhaust emissions until engine warms up.

Also worth changing fuel filter prior to cold weather in case water droplets have collected there.
