we have a 1.9 tdi 5 speed automatic, for about 4 mths or so gear changing seem rather jerky& erratic, i,ve tried changing the atf but has made little if no difference to the problem, any ideas anyone, tia ?

model / age ??? had a replacement autobox from ford/vw (was a brand new one under warranty) at 23k because of these symptons now done 149k

its a 2003 mk2 and its covered 110k

Hi ,Did your change filter and clear any sludge off magnet ?

fault codes are showing on the transmission ecu as follows 00529 engine speed signal missing & 00351 intermediate shaft speed sensor, would this point towards it being an electrical fault rather than mechanical, thanks for your help

Yes the sensors get damp can corrode and fail sometimes pinpointed to a leaky coolent pipe .
