jonesblakey Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 we just had some heavy rain (hooray for british summer!) and i noticed that there is a leak coming in frok behind the glove compartment. it seems to me after reading the forum its a common problem and the usual suspect is the scuttles under the bonnet....just wanted to know if there was anywhere else i need to check as well....i do not have a sunroof. i also noticed my demisters are not very good (to put it politely) i do get power out of them but they dont do a very good job. i been told that there is summat under the passenger seat thats for central locking and windows and im just wondering if the leak could be causing problems to that as i do have intermitting problems thanks for any help....i have 1995 aspen 2.0l Quote
chrispb123456 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Hi thereWhile your clearing the scuttle tray out would be a good idea to change the pollen filter. Also as your car is ageing remove the screws from the rear end of the front wheel arch liner, the scuttle drains into this area, dig all the mud and dirt away wash out with hose then check for rust and holes where water could find it's way through inside. jonesblakey Posted August 26, 2011 Author Report Posted August 26, 2011 thanks very much....will do that next time its dry.....roll on next summer!!! Quote
seatkid Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 The rear washer pipe comes down from behind the glovebox lhside. It has a joint near there and its common for this to come adrift (usually in freezing weather though). Pull the carpet up (you have to remove the floor trim under the door) and check. Its in the technical FAQ Quote
