mag147 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 I am a new member of this forum and so the question I have may have been answered before, if so apologies. I have a Y reg Galaxy 1.9 tdi ghia. every now and again I get white smoke coming into the rear passenger area. It seems to be coming from the lights access panel on the near side. can any one tell me how to solve the problem please? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Hi and welcome to the forum Just to clarify are we talking about exhaust smoke/fumes or steam from the removeable panel by the luggage area Quote

mag147 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 Hi and thankyou for the welcome. It seems to me that diesel fuel has been heated and not ignighted but just turned to white smoke. It certainly smells like smoke not steam. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Problems occurring with the booster heater manifest themselves usually in the cold weather (below +5 degs on MK1's and below +10 deg's on MK 2's) is it that cold where you are? Anyway to try and pinpoint whether the heater is trying to fire up you could temporarily remove fuse 12 from the fuse box this will disable it and see if it occurs again The reason I mentioned steam is maybe the rear heater matrix or pipework is leaking causing the steam. Are you losing or constantly topping up coolant level. Quote
mag147 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 No not that cold don't think it's steam because of the smell not losing water Will try removing the fuse Many thanks for your time Quote
