Davehillbo Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 Hmmm it appears that the FAQ links dont work :) Quote
chrispb123456 Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 Yeah your right FAQ's are not working!! suppose we'll have to wait for the repair man, dont hold your breath though :) Quote
seatkid Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) Faq nr 2 Doesnt work.Does too! It's 95% certain it is an anti-roll bar drop link worn. To check, turn the wheel outward so you can see the link, then take a firm hold of the link and check to see if you can detect *any* movement in the end ball joints when pushing or pullling (very) hard, if theres any movement at all then it's nacked and is the cause of the knocking when going over uneven surface. Its an easy job (about 20 minutes), even without jacking up the car! (Although you will need to lay on the ground) You need a good fitting socket and open ended spanner. The bolts are tightened very tight (100 Nm) so you will need a long bar on your socket. Don't worry when removing the links, they are not under any tension... Only change the link thats nacked. They fail at wildly different interval due to poor quality control / design. Doesn't mean anything else is likely to go soon. Edited August 15, 2011 by seatkid Quote
Davehillbo Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 Many thanks! Pulling it seems to make the top part of it wobble on the drivers side, passenger seems solid. Appreciate your help all. Quote
Davehillbo Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Many thanks! Pulling it seems to make the top part of it wobble on the drivers side, passenger seems solid. Appreciate your help all. Ok, replaced it and its still clunking, when i was fitting the drop link i saw the big plastic cover under the engine is loose right next to the drop link, i bet this could be causing it, anyone got any ideas on a fix? seems to be missing a popper thing that holds it in place. Sounds like one of the bolts is missing. Quote
Davehillbo Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Ok, how would one attach a new bolt lol, seems in a pretty bad place. Quote
dean069 Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 I have the same problem clunking over bumps but only on the one side Also the car pulls to the left had the tracking done but still pulls any ideas please Quote
sparky Paul Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 I have the same problem clunking over bumps but only on the one side Also the car pulls to the left had the tracking done but still pulls any ideas please Knocking dfrom front suspension is almost always ARB links as described above. As for pulling to one side, make sure you haven't got a brake binding, feel each wheel after a run to see if any are unusually warm. Otherwise, tracking probably not done correctly. Quote
dean069 Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Thanks for that i changed the tire from the front to the back and that has sort the pulling to the left out so it looks like an oil change pollen filter and ARB links weekend soon Thanks Dean Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 If a front tyre has worn on one shoulder it will tend to steer itself in that direction, usually more noticeable when it's the n/s because of the road camber Quote

chrispb123456 Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 Have you checked out the drive shafts and CV joints, also have a look at the front wishbone and anti rollbar rubbers. Quote
