stevevalo Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 After replacing the front discs and pads, a few days later the battery was completely discharged. After recharging and reconnecting the battery I noticed that a motor was running. I traced this to the ABS pump motor, this was confirmed by removing the 40amp fuse protecting that circuit, Any ideas what has caused the ABS pump to continue running even when the key is not in the ignition, has it anything to do with the replacing the front discs and pads? Mirez Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Quite possibly, how did you remove the excess fluid? Did you bleed it off using the nipples or force it back up into the chamber? Quote
stevevalo Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 Pushed it back up into the chamber, should I not have don't that? Quote
Mirez Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Pushed it back up into the chamber, should I not have don't that? Its not the preference but if done slowly then shouldn't have caused a problem.. If you did it quickly or with the cap left on then its possible the seals have flipped in the ABS block and it can't pressurise the system - in which case its replacement time. I take it the fluid level is within the limits? The only other thing you could try is to bleed out the ABS system but you'll need VAG-Com to do that properly but it might be worth getting that hooked up anyway to see if any faults have been logged. stevevalo Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks for that, will take it to the dealer and have it checked for faults Quote
stevevalo Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 I got the fault codes checked at the weekend. The only fault showing is a bad earth on the ABS motor. But the gargage I took it to didn't have the equipment to check for a bad earth. Would this cause the motor to run all the time? Quote
