chrispb123456 Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Maybe but you really need to scan with Vagcom first to see whats going on as it's probably going into limp mode. Quote
Babelman Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 my 2001 19 tdi galaxy somtimes loses power wen driving it only happens every now and then any ideas (could it be the map sensor) ????? this is happening to me, fine for three weeks , came back yesterday, cleared when on motorway, but back again today. richj Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 It sounds the same as the problem I had on my 1.9 Tdi. That was down to the turbo being clogged up due to it only being used on local runs. The Tdi turbo has variable vanes which will clog with carbon/soot deposits if underused.Try loading the car up with all your mates or a dozen bags of sand and giving it a good run up the motorway making sure you work the engine ie overtaking accelerating, going hard up through the gears to get the turbo hot, this will burn off the deposits and should cure your problem. qswi271 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 I've just taken all the bits off mine (see other post) and can not be certain it will solve the problem (car still in bits) but the inlet manifold was coated with about a 1cm of black gunge, the EGR valve was similar. Inside the turbo there was a lot of carbon build up, but my guess it that the sticking is cause by the vanes catching on the scratches where the vanes rub on the plate (hard to explain - I took a picture which I'll have to figure out how to upload). Anyhow I used some 400 grit emery paper and it is a smooth as a babies bottom. It is not an easy job to get it out, see http://sites.google.com/site/galaxytdi/turbo1 Quote
