Hi in book it says there are 3 levels of fuses near the steering wheel and thats where the relays should be cant find them,i can see the 1st level of fuses but then there is screws holding rest of the plastics in place so it cannot be removed so they cant be there? also book says there should be some relays/fuses under bonnet left hand side cant see them Im trying to find the 109 relay as this could be the course or my warm engine starting problem so someone suggested, info on where relays would be good cheers guys

Yes same position,

Watch the glow plug light when trying to start when hot, does it still flash on for second, no light at all then 109 is suspect if this is OK check stop solenoid on pump.

ok thanks but what have i got to check on solenoid and how?

There should be an audible click from the solenoid when ignition is turned on, the feed only stays live for a few seconds, check first that there is voltage present when cranking engine.

If there is no current remove connected wire and with a jumper wire connect straight to battery then try starting.

Do i put jumper wire on solenoid to battery? then start when engine warm to see if it starts 1st time?

The solenoid valve has a light spring which seals off the fuel supply when ignition is off, when you turn the key on the valve lifts and allows fuel to pass there is a safety feature that only allows the solenoid power for about five seconds, once engine fires engine ECU allows continuous supply.

It may be you have a power supply problem or a dodgy solenoid.

Do try a lead straight from + terminal of battery to solenoid.

update drove the car 2 times for 30 minute drive so car engine is hot turned engine off then tried to start wouldnt start until 8 cranks can here clicking noise from the solenid do i still need to try the cable direct from the solenoid to the batter? because if solenoid is clicking then should be ok ? Also will just say ive started up car left running then turned off after 5 minutes then started fine then started again turned off after 10 minutes started fine??? the car stood still through that process,im thinking it maybe something to do with moving car when hot??? shell i still try solenoid direct to battery then try start when engine hot??

update change t piece which goes on fuel filter was 20 pounds from VW garage also changed fuel filter 16 pounds local shop still has small air bubbles in fuel engine pipe, when cold starts fine but when engine is hot always same 8 cranks, once started i turn off engine off and then it takes 8 cranks again to start this cannot be related to the small air bubbles in pipe can it??? as once it was started then it should start straight after but not sure??? now thinking dodgy relay but which one???
