What loose hose? Cant see anything untoward in those tiny photos. Try highlighting the hose in question and a larger photo please.

think he means the one that goes across the fat plastic pipe with a letter B on it, doesnt it go to the turbo ? its the same one that i had problems with when towing a caravan, under normal load it was ok but under heavy pulling it would pop off sending the engine into limp home mode, needed a much tighter clip to hold it on.

Pipe you have shown should go to the ECU module behind the clocks in the dash.

When i replaced mine i joined the old pipe to the new one to feed it all round the engine bay and into the underside of the drivers side dash area, was a bugger to do on your own.

I would recomend you change all the vac hose as they do wear, dont foget the bit inside the ECU ! Good luck and have some plasters ready for the scrapes on your pinkies

There must be another connector nearby then as its way too short for that. It has just come back from the garage service etc.. call me paranoid but could this be a bit of sabotage to get more business? What is its purpose then as if its meant to be running to the ecu but the car is running perfectly normal would could it be affecting?

Looking at your photo I would say that pipe has become detached from the pipe running to the PCM (engine ecu) behind dash you should find another peice of pipe hanging that should be joined to it, possibly the end of the other pipe has split causing it to separate, would expect a loss of power in this situation.

not sure of the vehicle but there is a faults reported with a cover vibrating and cutting the map hose on some models, i believe it suggests re routing.

On mine (Mk1 late 98) its clipped like so

goes to the rear bulkhead behind all the solenoid valves

(its the blurry pipe that becomes sharper as it bends to the left)

where it goes I couldnt tell without stripping off the plastic scuttle tray - no, don't ask.......

The "start end" is in the boost pipework.

I expect they pulled it off when changing the fuel filter and didnt know what to do with it.

If it feeds the pressure sensor in the ecu, you will have lost turbo function.

Right thanks for all the replies. Managed to solve this one Pulled off the scuttle tray and had a good butchers at the area you suggested, eventually found the other end and joined it back up reinforcing it with a good bit of tape. all the rest of the hoses look good. It drives like a different car now.
