Bobski Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I have had this problem for a few years now. 98% of the time my Galaxy starts with no problem but every now and then it decides to just not start (normally when Im in a rush :) ). The engine does not turn over the hole car is dead, just the ignition lights come on like normal and the LED on the door flashes like mad with no code pattern and I cant hear the petrol pump. I wait 3 minuites or less then turn the ignition, the LED on the door goes to solid red, I hear the petrol pump kick in and she starts. Also I hear a click from the fuse box, could be down to a relay but just not sure. Over the last couple of week's it has started to get worse. Any Ideas Lad's and Lasses?? :) Edited June 15, 2011 by Bobski Quote

Hay Chris, this relay 30 on my 2.3, does this relay cause this problem I have then, and is it a known issue m8? Thanks Edited June 16, 2011 by Bobski Quote
chrispb123456 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 If you do a search on the said relays you will read other members experiences, and yes they are first ports of call for intermittant starting problems other than battery faults, also in the FAQ's there's a good how to remove/replace relays. Bobski Posted July 7, 2011 Author Report Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) Hi BobskiJust re read your original post and noticed you say "the engine don't turn over" how did I miss that, relay 30 wont cause that, I think I would check out ignition switch next Thanks Chris  Well after looking around this web site I had completely overlooked the door LED fault codes. If anyone is interested on how to solve this problem here goes........... When this fault starts the drivers door LED will flash very fast for one minuet, then it will give you a code to your particular fault, in my case it flash once, paused then flashed five times indicating FAULT 1.5. Now if you look on this web site at the Technical Section/FAQ's/ number 69 Door LED Codes it says........ Code 1:5 ³ Key not programmed into PATS control module ³³ ³ memory: ³³ ³ Programme Key(s) as necessary. ³ Just went outside and coded the key and all seems to be well, will have to give it a few days to see if the problem is still there. This fault code was just for my individual fault but will do the same for all other flashing LED faults. Just remember to wait for the fast flashing to stop after one minuet, then check the code it gives you here, (number 69 in my case)...... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=7886 Hope this helps someone. Regards Edited July 7, 2011 by Bobski Quote

walsey Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 Hi AllI have been having intermittent starting problems with my mk 2 galaxy for about a year. On turning the key, the red led in the door will flash and nothing appears to be happening. After a couple of minutes, there is a small clunk from somewhere in the engine, the led stays on and the car starts.I have changed relays 30 and 167, checked the wiring going into the boot and the drivers door, checked wiring going into fuse box at front of engine. The issue went away, but then came back again. However, I have had success with the simple job of removing the shroud around the ignition switch, removing the connector on the left hand side and replacing it after a brief clean. So far, so good! Ford galaxy SWE Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 Forgot to write, the car has been hard to get running the week before. And last time, it got running with small extra effort. I put in the gear R (atomatic) and it started to missfire, then it stopped. Hazent fired one bit since then... Quote
