Just looked on mine looking in through gap in the wheel it fits in the gap in the top centre of the caliper.

 

 

I think it's the anti chatter spring for the caliper - Fits between the pads. My copy of the ford TIS disc has died so I can't check!

Your right BJ, that is what it is for, one of my callipers had to be replaced for the MOT, the bit left over is an anti squeal thingymebob...wont stop the brakes from working.. nay crucial but i guess it was put there for a reason. :lol:

I see on top off the caliper2 slotsgrooves that it would fit in luvverly,but it would do nothing there!is there anywhere i can get a piccy of how it should look?

According to the Ekta catalogue it's called a wiring conduit, which makes me think it's a guide for the wear indicator wire as mines only got it on that side.

Hope you can see from the photo.

I dont recall mine coming out when I changed my discs and pads but there's only one on the drivers side.
