Hi Everyone.

I have just joined this board as I figured it would be the best place to ask a couple of questions regarding the Galaxy.

Firstly let me explain I am a wheelchair user but am still able to drive. I only drive short distances but have decided on a Galaxy as my friend has one he swears by and also because of the room which is ideal for my wheelchair and can take my dog as well.

Also I have to say I know nothing about cars apart from how to drive them so please treat me as a bit dumb when it come to any technical speak ;)

I have been looking at Galaxy's for a while but due to circumstances I have now been pushed into a corner where I am going to need to buy one quickly - I basically am going to need it before June 13th. As I restricted into how far I am comfortable driving out to just see a car I have been looking for one nearby to me in Oxford. I only have at max

Hi and welcome to the forum

The 2.8 very powerfull but likes petrol stations to much, although not particuly high mileage auto boxes can be expensive to repair check for erratic gear changes clunks/noises.

The seats are very strong but they are very heavy, you may need someone to help you with these, lifting in and out.

Thanks Chris

I just spoke to the dealer and they told me they don't have any service history for the car but do have all the MOT documents so I am not sure about it now, seems a bit weird to have no service history for a car that is 8 years old or am I being paranoid (told you i was a bit dumb when it comes to cars)

Personally, I would say to avoid that one - the V6 Auto's are thirsty blighter's (Just 22mpg average) and with 118k, no history and a towbar it could be that its been well used. The 22mpg might not be such an issue if you are only doing short journeys but the auto boxes are extreamly expensive when they go wrong so you need to make sure it's smooth and been well maintained!

I would be inclined to ask your friend if you can have a go at removing his seats, as Chris says they arn't the lightest of things and I would imagine it would be made an awful lot harder to remove from a sitting position as you need them in a folded, upright position to install/remove.

welcome to the forum qprtrigger,i cannot add any more then what has allready been posted.

without being nosey are you not entitled to mobility?

Yes I was entitled to Motability, however if you have points on your license and don't have a named driver you are screwed.

I've found another one close to me, a little bit out of my price range but has low mileage so I may have to bite the bullit and find the extra.

Hope no one minds a newbie asking so many questions.

First of all no one will mind you asking questions thats what the forum is for

The car looks good only thing I would say is check the history carefully as all the petrol variants have a timing chain not cambelt as in the description.
