Andy http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.htmlMake sure you download VCDS lite software for the third party interface (dumb interface) Quote
Galaxy newbie Posted May 14, 2011 Author Report Posted May 14, 2011 Ok downloaded vcds lite and ran the system and the two errors I got back were cts problem and abs speed sensor right front intermittent. Managed to clear the abs speed sensor problem, but cts remains. Hopefully my new cts will arrive today. Should I register the software, will I get more functionality from the program? It didn't throw up any faults regarding lack of turbo or lack of speedo. Hmmmm Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Hi AndyMeant to ask you before about the speedo, does it still record the mileage or is that dead too. ABS fault may have been an old one Does your glow plug light come on for a few seconds when you first put ignition on? and does it come on at all or flash when driving? Did you scan all the modules ie, central electrics, instruments etc Costs alot to register Vagcom, you should be able to go to Engine module then click on measuring blocks, have a look at the MAF readings see if the readings are within limits. Faulty MAF's don't always show a fault, you could try taking out the MAF and spray it with switch cleaner and let it air dry (they are delicate be careful) Quote
Galaxy newbie Posted May 14, 2011 Author Report Posted May 14, 2011 Hi chris, right speedo still not working, and no mileage is not going up but IS displayed. Glow light comes on when ignition is switched to stage 2 and stays on for about 15 seconds then goes out. It doesn't come on or flash whilst driving. My laptop is rubbish so today it won't recognize my lead, so gonna drive to mums and try hers. New cts has arrived and fitted so gonna test temp gauge on way to my mums. Wi report back shortly will check Maf when I get vagcom running again. Speak soon. P.s you got an email addy chris :-) Quote
Galaxy newbie Posted May 14, 2011 Author Report Posted May 14, 2011 Right have checked Maf through vagcom and is working within parameters. Temp gauge is working with new cts but still fluctuating, seems worse at idle, but not so bad whilst driving. Quote
tara Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Hi there am i right in thinking that these leads can be used on a ford galaxy? As thought that these only work on VW? I will get one if they work with my galaxy. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Hi TaraYour Galaxy is primarily a VW and yes it will work on your car.Unfortunately it wont be able to confirm head gasket failure, but will give an insight to other yet unknown to you problems. What you need to do is scan all available modules make a note or print off the codes, then clear all the faults then after a short drive rescan and see if any have come back. Good luck with the gasket problem :o http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM-/330399696070?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ced5b44c6 Quote
tara Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for your advice i have just had call from mechanic and he says that the aircon has also stopped working and there is evidence of dye on the compressor. All these problems coming up we are pushing the garage for a refund. Thanks again.............. We are not happy campers.....lol Quote
Galaxy newbie Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 Hi again, have registered and activated my vcds software and can now do output tests, the n75 is working as can hear it clicking, but not getting a clicking from the n18(egr) should this be clicking (not sure if it's a solenoid?). Still occasionally getting error for cts come up but I think it's a wiring issue can these be rewired from the multiplug at all. Cheers. Andy Quote

AndyHi Andy the N18 is indeed a solenoid valve it has a pulsed supply from engine ECU depending on load, losing track now of what you have done now, did you look at the condition inside EGR, make sure valve doesen't stick open, there are members that have removed the pipe to the EGR and blanked the pipe off so it stays shut all the time. Did you have a chance to look at the instrument cluster wiring regarding speedo and temp gauge also worth checking that pipe on and in the ECU also look for evidence of oil in the pipe as this may find it's way into the MAP sensor. ps. how much to register VCDS. Quote
Galaxy newbie Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 Hi chris yep have checked the instrument cluster via output test and all gauges are working as they should so think it could be a wiring issue or gearbox sensor is faulty. Will remove egr and give it a clean see how we go from there. Can you send us an email via. aharrison04@aol.com so I can email you back. Cheers andy Quote
