fairview Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 I am experiencing major power loss / acceleration especially noticiable on hills - even mopeds and buses can overtake me ! On the flat & around toown it is not so evident and can still get up to a reasonable speeds on long flat roads. So far have been to 4 different garages and no one seems to know what to do. The car has only done 110K and is otherwise OK. So far ;-Mass Airflow was changed but made no difference ! Checked for :-Blocked / CAT exhaust -checked OKTurbo - Checked and is boosting OKVac control valves - checked - working. The problem started after the fuel cut out solenoid was changed. Not long after the garage changed it, the car just cut out whilst stood idling (while they were servicing a couple of minor un-related matters) and then would not re-start. The mechanic thought the immobiliser was faulty so wire bypassed on the fuel cut out solenoid. Most of the mechanics I have spoken to, say the problem is not attributable to this although the current mechanic on the case thinks it could perhaps be due to this. He suggests sending off the ECU to immobilise the immobilier and then re-wiring the fuel cut out solenoid correctly as it should be to "see" if this makes a difference The question is am I throwing more good money after bad ? (6 months earlier the Cam belt went a new belt & head were fitted (the car was only on 107K). the car went OK after this for about 12 weeks until the solenoid problem). In total since the cam belt problem (plus the alternator went) I have spent nearly Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 You say problem has started since stop solenoid has been changed, for what reason did you change solenoid. Year and engine code would be usefull  Quote
