Just drove 550 miles fully loaded with a roof box. The first 250 miles was perfect but then it went into limp mode again!! After that it was limp mode for most of the last 300 miles.

How can the problem be fixed by changing all the vacuum pipes but then only last for 250 miles????? What can possibly change in that time to give me the problem back???? It's soooo frustrating!

I haven't changed the MAP hose or the small hose in the ECU yet .... but it was fine for 250 miles so could it really be this?

Has anybody got any ideas please?

Cheers,

Robin.

Any new codes come up?

I have been in this situation for a year or so, only hose left is inside the ECU, but not had time to change it yet, lots of tdi forumns point to this being linked to 65535 but i find it hard to believe as this is better protected from weathering, oil etc.

Good luck

This pipe from the manifold to the ECU could be subject to oil contamination on the inside from oil mist which occurs normally.

The pipe would degrade from the inside out so would go unnoticed until a problem occurs.

Removing the pipe at the ECU and see if there's any evidence in the pipe could be a telltale sign for oil inside the ECU/small pipe and MAP sensor

Been out tonight measuring blocks, I note that my barometric pressure reading is constant and not around 1000mb as one might expect. Does anyone know if this is right? Extract of log file below. Why would this stay constant i went up and down a few hills?

any pointers appreciated

I changed the small pipe inside the ECU today and I found the old pipe had a 1mm split in it. A new pipe is now fitted and I have no fault codes at all. Fingers crossed it will stay that way!

Many thanks everyone for all the help and advice.

Cheers,

Robin.

hi have you checked the little pipe inside the ECU mine was a little bit loose so i changed it and that was the cause of the loss of power there is a thread on here it is a bit fiddly to get the torqx t20 security bolt out but found it quite simple followed the thread on here explained how to do the whole thing p.s mine used to regain power once i switched ignition off and then back on too i left this till last thinking it was a hard job now i wished i'd done it earlier hope this helps
