deutschgalaxy Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Good morning all,I am an American (please don't hold it against me) living in Germany. I purchased my first Ford Galaxy last august from a used auto dealer in the area of my village. The Galaxy has been my introduction to van ownership, and overall I have been pretty happy with it. I found a 1999 Galaxy Style 2.3L petrol with less than 100k for under 2k euros. I have had a *few* issues with it, including a busted transmission and a dead alternator, but for me it's better than being stuck under an auto loan for a vehicle. A little about me:- Photographer by hobby, Computer Security by trade- Originally from Colorado, relocated to the Mannheim, Germany area in 2009 (not in the military)- A couple of kids in the back of the Galaxy, touring Europe by van- Currently owning an older model Galaxy, excited about upgrading to a newer model in the coming year! That's about it. Cheers,C Quote

chrispb123456 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hi and welcome to the forum I noticed you referred to the galaxy as a van is that normal in the states? there was a new member on here a few months back in America with a galaxy van, not having seen a van version of a galaxy thought it may have been converted, in the UK a vehicle with no side windows and no rear seats is called a van solely for transport of goods. We call the galaxy an MPV, multi purpose vehicle. Any way there is a lot of knowledge and help on the forum look in the FAQ's in technical section most common problems have been covered before. deutschgalaxy Posted April 18, 2011 Author Report Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks guys for the welcome, I am already perusing the technical sections of the forum for some interesting issues I have experienced already with the Galaxy. I love the front passenger puddle of water in the winter, the intermittent aircon working/non working issue oh and of course the central door locks that work well in dry weather and not so well in wet/damp weather! This site is a gold mine for the DIY'ers with Ford Galaxy's. @chrispb123456 - In the states we refer to anything with 5/7 seats that you tow kids around in a "family van". There was actually a Mazda years back in the states called "Mazda MPV" which may have been the attempt to get Americans calling them MPV, but never really took off. Thanks again guys for the info/forum/ and warm welcome! Cheers,C Quote
