Montydog Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Wow 3 months into ownership of my 2006 1.9 tdi 130 (38,000miles) and i noticed the wipers struggling to "swish" there full range, now you have probably gathered I am not massivley mechanically minded, but looked on this site and clearly need to regrease the linkage fast- I am wanting to do this myself but cannot budge the wiper arms off there mounts. Blathered them in 3 in 1 and wd40 overnight removed nuts and they wont budge???? Re attatched nuts so i could use my hammer to give them a tickle - nadder???? Please someone put me out of my misery before the rain comes, how do i get the arms off please  Edited April 10, 2011 by Montydog Quote

andyfishing Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Nwo then I have a different idea. Get some white lithium grease, give em a good soaking when it is hot (sunshine). Allows th grease to melt and penetrate.Do it each day for three days. It always works for me. Andy Quote
suzuki91 Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 as said, remove nut, lift arms off screen, wriggle and pull. Quote

andynali Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 I have also had a problem with my wipers, they went haywire, half cycles sticking at the top and just pulsing. Can anyone tell me where to grease or 'copper slip' whatever that is please. Quote

Did you use copper slip on the spindles?, it contains copper particles which are abbrasive, great as an anti siezure compound on thread bolts, back of brake pads, batt terminals etc. But for surface to surface contact such as bearing faces LM grease should be used, imagine mixing a little metal filings in you grease and adding to your bearings. Coaster Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I had same prob - stripped them down as others have done but before I reassembled I drilled a small hole ( 3/16's drill bit) in the side of the tube the wiper spindle fits into- this allows me to get lubricant / oil into the spindle atanytime in the future without dismantling. I've used a small pieceof rubber as a bung in the hole to prevent any water or dirt ingress Quote
