SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Looking around the engine bay of my Galaxy tdi AUY and in front of the brake fluid reservior there is a filter of some sort, have tried to upload the photo but to no success, does anyone know what this filter is for.. Description - cylindrical shaped clear plastic, housing a yellow filter indide, its not very big(Would easily fit inside your palm) Many thanks Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Hi jimIf you look at the charge pressure hose diagram I sent you, you will see the filter marked number 2 it's part of the N75 valve curcuit. Quote
SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 Ahhhh,So it is, Thanks Chris.. I couldnt make any sence of the pic and relate it to the car.. My filter looks quite dirty Im guessing it can be replaced, What affect could this dirty filter have on the car? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Hi JimI would say at some point in the operation of the three valves at some point are open to atmosphere if it is blocked it may restrict the operation of the valves and makes sense could lead to poor performance.I must admit mines never been changed, I had my air filter box off two weeks ago to replace aircon pipes and noticed it still looks like new after nine years, an explanation could be that one of the valves is drawing air from atmosphere constantly. I'm not 100% sure on the cycle of all those valves with regard to when they draw on atmosphere but the N75 has been known to cause problems albeit not that often. Quote
SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) Chris, Cheers for the reply, it just looks dirty and want to slowly eliminate things before I get to the more expensive items.. Do you think its likely that the dealers or a motor factors would sell these seperately?Going to buy the vac hose later I think its 3mm and 5mm on the galaxy replace relay 109 & find out how much the intercooler hose is. After that im heading down the line of replacement MafSeeing as the turbo was cleaned a new n75 valve and egr valve were fitted I dont think its anything major, its just annoying me with the stutteringHave scanned again with vag- com and showing as no faults Many thanks for your help Edited March 29, 2011 by SPIKEYJIMBO Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Hi JimAs you had a new N75 may just worth double checking that the pipes are fitted in the correct order using the pic.Be wary of the cheap MAF's on ebay I ended up with mine being worse than the original. Quote
SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 Chris, I have relay 109 and vac tube in both 3mm and 5mm diameter (does that sound right) Whilst down at VW I got the guy to look up that filter in the pic you sent me, he looked on etka and came up with part number 702 129 965 at a price of Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Jim cant help with the part number but I would imagine it's not a sort after part thats why it's special order. It does say 3.5mm for the hose so if you have 3mm it should be a tight fit.Relay 109 is the power relay found in layer 3 in central junction box. SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Mirez,Cheers for confirming that, will get it ordered in the next few days, got to try and find the time now to fit all the parts. Where did you manage to pull that info from or is it secret:lol: Quote
Mirez Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Its a screenshot from VW's ETKA thats all, I could have shown it to you using Ford's Mircrocat instead :angry2: Quote
