hi all a little help needed, i have just drove my galaxy for about 20 miles on returning i could smell a burning smell.so i popped the bonnet open and noticed one of the wheels which drives the fan belt glowing red hot, the car has air con with the afn engine mrk 1 x reg.its the pulley wheel directly under the alternator. any ideas cheers

Maybe aircon pump seizing up, try removing belt and turning all the pulleys check for roughness/tightness in alternator and aircon clutch pulley.

If they feel OK refit belt and run engine with aircon switched off then see if pulley gets hot, if it don't then aircon pump is causing problem
