dix Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 hi, can anyone tell me what the injection timing should be @ my galaxy 1.9 tdi , the vdcs shows it injecting @ 6.8 --7.2 btdc, can i use vcds to alter injection timing ? Quote
jonbob Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 you can't use the free version to alter anything, as regards specification, VCDS gives the specs underneath the actual readings.RegardsJon Quote
dix Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 Hi Jon thanx for your reply, i dont have the free version, i bought my vcds @ vag-com.co.uk, it does state that it should be 1.2 btdc -2.4 atdc but when i stick the laptop on the car she reads ACTUAL 6.8 plus & if i turn the cam anti-clockwise it then goes to 7.4 btdc, if i go clockwise with the cam it wont alter apart from going too far then it wont start, the problem being i bought the car with a HEAVY TICKING , this turned out to be a hydraulic tappet getting too tight at times causing the valve to LAP a piston so i put new tappets in (full set) also a timing belt, used all the proper tools but since then there is a backbeat coming thru the air filter box also a vibration @ the o/s wing when labouring /pulling but when i lift the foot off the throttle the vibration goes, it does this when stationary also so it has got me beat, stick vcds on & shows no faults so this is why i am coming back to inj timing.Cheers Quote
zorgman Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 when you put belt on did you pull the pump pully clockwise as it alters by one tooth and stops you setting timing so your one tooth out hence why it wont drop down to lower setting Quote

zorgman Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 ah as you didnt say its a pump duese engine take no notice of readings they mean nowt on pd's. as far as im aware you cant alter timing as the crank sensor tells ecu when to squirt.always tell us what type of ngine ie tdi 90,110,115,130,150 pd's put it in your signature Quote
