Parking Sensor Problem

Hi all my car is a y reg ford galaxy 1.9 TD Ghia (115ps)i need a little help with my parking sensors they just dont work at all no noise nothing

i have only just got the car and in general its the best thing since sliced bread

i have pressed the button in the front question is it supposed to click on or off like the hazared switch

question 2 where do i start to look to find out where the problem is

step by step if poss guys as i have not got a book yet

The control module for the parking sensors is in the well (and it may be literally) under the front passenger seat.

You can suffer wet carpet from a disconnected rear washer pipe which runs under the carpet this can and probably has become detached at some point and has drowned the control module (common problem)

 

The switch on the dash is just spring loaded, it doesn't click in, it can be used to activate/deactivate beeping, full description is in the handbook.

I think you mean "should it flash"? No it shouldn't. Flashing indicates a problem. Turn ignition to "on" but do not start engine, kneel down and put your ear to each parking sensor front and rear; they shold click if they are OK. Silence = faulty (or faulty controller if none click).
