GeneralJay Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks Chris Im having trouble to keep the wires on the fly wheel whilst I refit the motor to the breat plate Quote
gregers Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 i know exactley what you mean,i too had the same trouble.you really need 3 pairs of hands, but it can be done.walk away have a smoke and a drink then come back to it,iirc i ended up using my foot to pull the wires tight whilst fitting the wheel back together, Quote
GeneralJay Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Posted February 17, 2011 Ive managed to refit the motor to the breast plate whilst keeping the wires in place. I did it by holding the motor wheel in place with elastic bands, cutting then when the 4 bolts are in place and removing them before tightening the bolts fully. However, operation is still not right. Does anyone know how to ensure the wires are set correctly for smooth operation? Quote
gregers Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 you say you have replaced the wire, but did you inspect the plastic cog wheel, when mine went it had stripped itself so no matter what i done the wire over ran and siezed up.i got a spare unit and robbed the wheel and replaced everything.as for insuring smooth operation it was a bit of trial and error in positioning the glass in the holders. Yeh a new wheel came with the wires. Whats the best way to take up excess wire? Quote
gregers Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 was this a kit replacement??did you check the length of the new wires with the old ones? i robbed my new wheel and wires from a mk1 version, funny isnt it the mk 1 frame is different to the mk2 but the wires are the same size.so once it was fitted back onto the complete frame,on mine there was no excess wire to take up.
