slysee Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hi I am new to the forum. I have a 2000 tdi galaxy and have a problem with the head lights, they are both pointing to the floor and the hight adjuster is not doing anything when moved. The Head lights are not making any noise and look like they are out of alignment. Are there simple things to check like fuses (can't find a fuse in my manual) as both seem to have gone wrong together? Thanks for any help  Quote
gregers Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 when you turn the headlights on,put your ear next to the lens, you might then hear the motors trying to work?then check out this thread,http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=11604&st=0&p=96038entry96038 Quote
sotal Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 The little ball joints pop off behind the lights, squeeze your hand down the back and check. I took mine out to find this out Quote
slysee Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks for the help, I have checked to see if I can hear a noise when the lights are turned on but no noise from either light and there dose not seem to be a ball joint off. It feels to me that there is no power to the height adjustment but not sure where to check for fuses or is there a relay that maybe I should check any ideas? The battery was changed earlier this month could this have caused any thing? Thanks again Quote

Thanks againHi thereHave they worked since you had the car? the motors get a high resistance and just stop working, or you may hear the motor trying to operate. Some times giving the lamp unit a thump it will come to life but usually short lived.I dismantled mine cleaned the tracking and brush greased it worked for a few weeks then packed up again, have since replaced both motors was Quote
slysee Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 HiThay did work ans stopped a few days back I have tried the gental tap! But no change, just seems strange they both stopped at same time so thats why I think it maybe a fuse switch or relay problem, but I can't find out where I should check to see if the lights are getting a supply to operate the motors? Where would I find a wiring diagram for the light motors any ideas? Thanks Quote

Mirez Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I take it this is Halogen and not Xenon lighting? (Ie, you have the thumbwheel in the car?) If so pop that out and measure voltage here - a low/lack of voltage will make the motors think you are at the max setting and adjust to the bottom to compensate. Quote
