tricky Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 hi all i have just aquired a 1999 v reg 2.3 auto galaxy with a gearbox fault , it wont change up from 2nd gear , i have 1st, 2nd and reverse and thats it if you drive car the autobox gets very hot to the touch. my friend told me he has changed the gearbox to a newer tiptronic box as the origninal was slipping its had new torque converter and he changed ecu then this fault developed when it was all put back together he had many headaches with this and gave up and passed the car on to me he thought that maybe it needs recoding due to new ecu and box , but i just wondering if it could be fluid levels or something similar any help please Quote
tricky Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 any help on this had it checked and not throwing any faults except egr valve could this do it, it drives in first then second really smoothly then just revs its nuts off and feels like its in neutral anyone got any ideas please Quote
sparky Paul Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 As EGR is an engine fault, I guess you have had a OBDII reader on it. Have you had it connected to VAG-COM? - this is the only interface that will communicate with the gearbox. Do you know if the replacement gearbox has ever worked correctly? Quote
