davewill Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Just wondering what tyre pressures you run your Mklll Gals on? I have the 2010 2.0Tdi 140 Titanium with 17" wheels, and mostly there is just me in it Havnt even checked what the tyre pressures are on the car, but when i do wanted to know others recommendations Cheers Dave Quote

davewill Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 Book says 32 psi all round if not loaded up (17" wheels) but to me that seems a bit low I know Fords are the experts, and there must have been loads of testing to establish 32psi as optimal, but it just don't look right to me Quote
insider Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 32psi all round is for the petrol-engined cars only.As yours is diesel it should be 35psi front/ 32psi rear for normal load rising to 38psi front / 45psi rear for full load. Quote
davewill Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 Thanks "Insider" When i checked the presuures of the tyres they were indeed 32psi all round, so i can only assume they came from a garage like this I will adjust to make them as you suggest Quote
b318isp Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I have the same rims but find the stated pressures too low, the outsides of the tyres are being eaten. Lower profile tyres tend to need higher pressures anyway. I'm currently running 43f/38r for normal driving, based on the wear profile I have seen on the last two sets of tyres. Quote
davewill Posted April 8, 2011 Author Report Posted April 8, 2011 I had a strange occurance this week! Had checked the tyre pressures last week, and put 35 in both fronts On Monday i thought they looked low, so went to garage (different one) and checked. Only 30psi in each?? Checked tyres thoroughly for nails, screws, etc etc, but nothing to puncture at all So have now topped up to 38 all round. It feels a firmer ride, but hopefully tyre wear will be even and no pressure has been lost in any over the last few days Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 HiMay be worth getting your own guage to double check the garage's guage. Quote
swagger Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 HiMay be worth getting your own guage to double check the garage's guage. Just how accurate are these gauges? garage ones and home ones must be out a bit Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Hi there Am not saying all the garage gauges are showing incorrect readings, but they are open to abuse from the general public, if you keep a small hand held pressure gauge in the car at all times just as a back up/double check. Also remember you should only check your pressures when tyres are cold, as pressures will rise automatically after a run. Quote
