paulh Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Driving home tonightI lost all gears. Had to get a tow home as gears won't engage at all. Clutch makes no difference, you can move the stick all round with the engine running and the clutch out. My first thought was that the linkage had gone, as there is no resistance on the stick, however when I got home I looked at the selector cables on the box and they are moving, although I don't know how much they are supposed to travel. THere was no bang, no sudden jerk, nothing to indicate anything had broken, but I did get a smell of burnt clutch plate. What does everyone reckon? Linkage, clutch or total gearbox failure? :( 05 1.9PD 115 Cheers Quote

paulh Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 Hello mate, yeah. Took the gearbox off and the clutch plate had separated. Basically the friction ring had sheared from the inner ring. Put a new one in, but still getting the pulsing pedal. Quote
