paulh Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I've noticed a rattly noise when ticking over. Looking at the belt tensioner it seems to be moving quite a bit, and when I turn on the heated screens it makes it worse, and a squeaking noise starts. I guess it shouldn't be doing this? Are these things adjustable or is it a case of changing the whole thing? Or should I be looking at the alternator pulley seeing as increased electrical load seems to make it worse?Cheers Quote

Jayton Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Turn the steering wheel from full lock to opposite full lock, if you get the chirpping at full lock then I'd suspect the alternator pulley, if not then I'd suspect the tensioner. If either are worn then it's likely the belt is worn too and worth changing. Quote
paulh Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 Cheers guys. I do get the full lock chirping, so I guess the alternator pulley is the first thing to change. Is the metal block part of the tensioner supposed to move backwards and forwards? Quote
