How To Disable "door Ajar Beep"?

Is it possible to switch off the beep that indicates that a door is opened? The wife thinks it's quite annoying. <_<

 

It's a 2002 Galaxy Ghia 1,9 TDI Tiptronic.

I'd much rather hear a beep than fall out of an open door, even worse one of the kids falling out. <_<

I'd focus more on preventing the door from opening in the first place. When it beeps, the harm might already be done. But the mrs. doesn't like the feature, and I don't know about you, but at my house her voice is the only one heard

Maybe if one of the kids falls out, it would help remedy the car's poor acceleration? At least I get to tell the Mrs. "I told you so". <_<

With temperatures below -15 deg Celsius the car is running some time before transport. Clever answer, though, I'll foreward it to the Mrs. with her newborn baby.

How much of a beep are you getting?

 

Mine makes a single beep if a door is opened, it's only short (I can't see it annoying anyone) - is that the beep that you mean? Or do you have a more irritating beep?

 

 

The only suggestion I can offer is to bypass the door switch so the car doesn't know the door has been opened (maybe just on the door which is the worst offender?) - this will cure it from beeping but will also stop it from turning on the courtsey light.

You can disable the beep using VagTacho bujt I'm not aware of a way to disable the it for individual items, it would be all or nothing so you would loose it for the temperature, fuel, service, and ECU messages as well.

 

The only way I can think of to accomplish this for just the door open warning would be to disable the door open system entirely so you would loose the graphic and the message but thats got even more

safety issues involved.

Yes but its all VagTacho work not Vag-Com. The only thing you could try in VC is changing the cluster market to USA as I dont think they have the door ajar warning active over there. Use the Recode (Soft-Coding) option, you'll be looking to change the 3rd Digit from the UK's "4" to the USA's "2". Its worth trying 5 and 7 in there as well (Japan and Aus) as thats the only potential way you'll do it via VC that I know of.
