urs4_2008 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Is it possible to switch off the beep that indicates that a door is opened? The wife thinks it's quite annoying. <_< It's a 2002 Galaxy Ghia 1,9 TDI Tiptronic. Quote
gregers Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 i should think it might be doable with something like vag tacho, over to you mirez, this is your domain m8. Quote
urs4_2008 Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 Hi, I have a vag-com, and my guess would be somewhere in the instrument cluster, but where? Quote
chromedome Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I'd much rather hear a beep than fall out of an open door, even worse one of the kids falling out. <_< Quote
urs4_2008 Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 I'd focus more on preventing the door from opening in the first place. When it beeps, the harm might already be done. But the mrs. doesn't like the feature, and I don't know about you, but at my house her voice is the only one heard(continuously). Quote
Dave-G Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 If you are with her next time she moans about it, slap her ass and point out it's better than the childs scream as it falls out of the door. Quote
urs4_2008 Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 Maybe if one of the kids falls out, it would help remedy the car's poor acceleration? At least I get to tell the Mrs. "I told you so". <_< Anyway; isn't it possible to disable the beep? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 This is an easy one don't open doors with engine running no beep <_< Quote
urs4_2008 Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 With temperatures below -15 deg Celsius the car is running some time before transport. Clever answer, though, I'll foreward it to the Mrs. with her newborn baby. Once more: does anyone know how to disable the door ajar beep? Comedians are welcome to pm funny comments <_< Quote
sotal Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 How much of a beep are you getting? Mine makes a single beep if a door is opened, it's only short (I can't see it annoying anyone) - is that the beep that you mean? Or do you have a more irritating beep? The only suggestion I can offer is to bypass the door switch so the car doesn't know the door has been opened (maybe just on the door which is the worst offender?) - this will cure it from beeping but will also stop it from turning on the courtsey light. Mirez Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 You can disable the beep using VagTacho bujt I'm not aware of a way to disable the it for individual items, it would be all or nothing so you would loose it for the temperature, fuel, service, and ECU messages as well. The only way I can think of to accomplish this for just the door open warning would be to disable the door open system entirely so you would loose the graphic and the message but thats got even moresafety issues involved. urs4_2008 Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 Thanks, Mirez, is it In the instrument module? Quote
Mirez Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Thanks, Mirez, is it In the instrument module? Yes but its all VagTacho work not Vag-Com. The only thing you could try in VC is changing the cluster market to USA as I dont think they have the door ajar warning active over there. Use the Recode (Soft-Coding) option, you'll be looking to change the 3rd Digit from the UK's "4" to the USA's "2". Its worth trying 5 and 7 in there as well (Japan and Aus) as thats the only potential way you'll do it via VC that I know of. Quote
