billywizzo Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 All,Cleared the fault codes on the aux heater 5x 01414 they are slowly starting to return though, have googled the code and checked the forum but dont get a definative on what the problem is apart from something to do with the fan if I remember correctly could this be fixed I had no flame out errors..The heater underneath now gets warm however the exhaust does not. run on pump replaced and working. Slowly starting to make progress but keep hitting hurdles all the way.. Any help is greatly appreciatedCheers all The heater will get warm as the run on pump is pushing the warm engine water round the heater.Mine feels warmish after the engine has been running but the heater has not been running. Not had the 01414 error so cannot help but does it not give any other info in vagcom along with the error code.Bill Quote

Any help is greatly appreciatedCheers allHi JimboI think you have established that someone has been playing about with your heater, I wonder what other surprises are in store. It may just be the fan is stuck/corroded in the housing to check this you will have to drop the heater down now to remove the smaller plastic cover this will reveal the plastic fan, see if it spins freely and is not fouling the plastic cover. If it looks OK clear faults and get someone to start car while you observe fan it should spin up seconds after starting engine assuming outside air temp is below 10 deg c if it still don't work you will need to remove the control unit/end cover to gain access to the fan motor. You wont get any flame out errors until the heater has fired up and then stopped unexpectedly. Quote
SPIKEYJIMBO Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 Bill, The only thing it says is 5 faults found 01414 combustion air blower (v6) 36-00 - open circuit I had read that you can use vag com to start the fan but I havnt had much luck with this, cleared the faults but they are slowly coming back also have picked up some others 01135 interior monitoring sensors 35-10 intermittent 01189 front air distribution flap motor (v145)009 open to short or groundand one about fuse 30 cant remember the code Chris, When I get a spare moment will drop it down and have a look/clean up think thats the way forward with a glow plug change once down aswelleven thought the run on pump is changed and flowing hot water around the car is it still normal for the temp guage on the dash to fluctuate when the blowers are on? Mant thanks Quote

Mant thanks Hi JimUntil boosters running gauge will drop when fans switched on as engine cant produce enough heat, there is another multi plug inside the heater which may be the problem with open circuit or the motor may be knackered if you need a motor let me know I have some s/hand bits here.Be prepared for the small torx headed bolts to be tight the heads round off very easily, give them a good soaking in penetrating oil first.None of the other codes will stop booster running, as you don't have a glow plug error it may be OK but check it out when it's out. Mant thanks If you have the free vagcom then I dont think you can start the fan on the aux heater with it.The fan will try to run as soon as the heater gets the signal to run.Look on ebay as people have heater parts for sale. 01135 interior monitoring sensors 35-10 intermittent is for the alarm sensors but dont know the other.Best to just sort out one thing at a time.http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Fault_CodesIs where i found out what some of the fault codes are. Like people say just make a note of the codes and then clear them.Sometimes it is just a glitch and the wont come back. Quote

SPIKEYJIMBO Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 Cleared all codes went for a long drive came home and re scanned codes for aux heater 5x01414 all there again will drop heater have a look and clean up inside with a plug change when it gets warmer01135 interior monitoring sensors intermattant my guess part of the alarm will investigate with the wiring as Im sure I have read the sensors are in the pillars bit wiring in the lights but most curious about 00926 terminal 30 002 lower limit exceeded have not got a clue here have been having some starting issues these last few days could this be related and something I could pass on to the dealer for rectification on the warranty Quote
Mirez Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Terminal 30 is Bosch speak for "Line from battery positive terminal (direct)" or the Positive for everyone else :) If its at lower level exceeded then you have a flat or extreamly low battery which would also account for your starting problems. SPIKEYJIMBO Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 Mirez The electrical guru, thank you for posting up have been and had a look at the battery I believe its a self fill up jobby (not maintenance free) so could be worth my while checking levels.. Changed the glow plugs earlier on today 2 were gone and the other 2 on there last legs, as a frost has formed on the car allready will check starting in the morning..Cheers for shedding some light on that code. SPIKEYJIMBO Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 Have been un-able to log into forum lately, car was struggling to start and had an audiable bing each time I started the gal first start of the day.. Mirez absolutely spot on took car down to kwik fit and got them to run a battery and charging check..alternator etc was fine but the Battery was knackered and only running at 44% and un-servicable. Got a bosch silver one (not from kwik fit) and can tell the power difference straight away no more cranking etc and less smoke at start (is that poss?).. Also the hesitancy that I had before seems to have gone. Thanks again all Quote
Tony12 Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Im glad I dont live in your street :) Dosing pump is the small solenoid type pump that supplies the diesel to the booster heater, as you said the heater is not working then it wont be that. Do you have climatronic or manual heating controls? Some leads come with a software disc which has the 409.1 version but the latest free software is VCDS lite from Ross Tech you can use either usefull links; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM-/330399696070?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ced5b44c6 http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.htmlIs this the right cable for a Mk III as I am having problems starting mine in the cold weather it takes about 30-40 attempts (cranking but not firing) lots of grey smoke....when it finally starts, it will keep starting first time.....untill it is left for a good 12 hours then same problem....I have recently had it serviced and changed battery and glow plugs......very frustratedhoping buying a VAGcable will help identify the problemmany thankstony Quote
