nicebutdim Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) Hi all. Has anyone fitted a turbo boost gauge to their galaxy? I'm talking about one in a pod and permanantly plumbed in. I'm thinking of fitting one just to keep an eye on boost pressure along with an oil pressure gauge that I've had knocking about for years. Will it work ok on a diesel charge system and is there enough boost to actually make the gauge move (as the only gauges I've seen are really meant for petrol engines). Thanks for any advice, Tim Edit; I mean using a turbo boost gauge for keeping an eye on the boost, not an oil pressure gauge  Edited January 17, 2011 by nicebutdim Quote
Mirez Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Not fitted one but did contemplate it, what is the max reading on the gauge? You'd be unlikely to see more then about 1.8bar from a standard system. Quote

Do you think it would also show the correct reading if plumbed into the boost pipe that leads to the ecu? Quote

Well 1.8bar would be the absolute max you would expect to be seeing from it really, anything more on a standard system would indicate somethings wrong  Theoretically yes, the pressure should be the same regardless of where on the system its plummed in. nicebutdim Posted January 17, 2011 Author Report Posted January 17, 2011 Ok, thanks for the reply. Looks like I may be the first to take a step into the unknown then? I'll update when I have some spare time and get round to it.Thanks again, Tim Quote
zorgman Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 ill check with vagcom as that shows the boost pressure see what it peaks at for you on my afn 110 Quote
nicebutdim Posted January 22, 2011 Author Report Posted January 22, 2011 That'd be great Zorgman, thanks. I believe I'm the same specs, so should have a good relation in readings. Thanks again Quote
jays Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 i have fitted boost to the 1.9tdi gauge works well on diesel it does not go into minus pressure thats the only differancejay Quote
nicebutdim Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks Jay, I still keep meaning to order one but one thing or another keeps making sure we have no spare money. whereabouts did you plumb in to take the pressure pipe? Thanks,Tim Quote
STYLIN Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 i had a boost guage plumbed into my passat 110 bhp(AFN engine),it worked well and could keep an eye on things under the bonnet a bit better...BUT get a decent gauge,i went cheap and the constant buzz of the cheaper gauge nearly did me in? Mark, I fitted mine with a pod from ebay that has a sticky pad fixing to attach it to the dash. I've placed mine in visual line with the 'A' pillar, adjacent to the small quarter glass. The pipe runs out of the back of the pod and through the gap between the a pillar and the small dash trim, and through to the vac pipe that runs to the ecu behind the clocks. VERY easy to do and no holes or damage to anything. I get nearly 20 psi very briefly under full acceleration and a constant max of about 10 after. Quote
MRVR6 Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 hi, yes ive fitted one, you need to put the tube coming out from the intake pipe after the intercooler if its diesel. and thou the fire wall to the gauge. but I had to buy extra tube because the one I got off ebay for £7 only come with 1 metre but works great!
