I have ripped off old wiring at the back and used ebay kit which works a treat and even show you distance in metres. Quote
zorgman Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 go for ebay kits i swear by them the 4 sensor with full digital readout are mint used them now for 4 years and still work great vey accurate as well Quote
bj2004 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 i used after market also 4 sensors connect control unit to reversing light supply mount remote display below front curtesy light and pick feed up from light worked for last 3 years and cost less than Quote

George106 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 If you drill holes in the bumper, put them in the good hight. I have fitted sensors in original holes and reversed in the truck without problem  (especially after lowering the car). Also if sensors fitted to low, they would register ground (kerbs) more often than needed. Quote
Torq Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Well, I got a set of ebay parking sensors and went to fit them today. Took the bumper off only to be faced with lots of steel! I thought (incorrectly) that there would be plastic impact absorbing inserts, not a dirty big steel girder, or at least there would be holes in the steel for fitting the sensors. So.. to those who have fitted sensors... how? Or am I looking at getting the big drill out and the carbide cutters? Thanks. Torq Quote
bj2004 Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Why take bumper off ?sensors should fit in skirt they are only 15-20 mm deep Quote
Torq Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Why take bumper off ?sensors should fit in skirt they are only 15-20 mm deep Had thought about that, but would they not be too low then? Torq Quote
George106 Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 If you have standard OEM springs, rear skirt should be high enough for sensors. But if you lowered or thinking about lowering in the future, I would consider placing them higher in plastic bumper to avoid registering ground as does mine atm. Quote
zorgman Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 memory serves me right its plastic bumber then foam stuff the steel. i left bumper on drilled the hole after lots of carefull measuring and slipped the wire down behind foam after making a groove, however if u have a towbar the foam etc isnt there Quote
Torq Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 No tow bar but no plastic filler either, just steel. My Alhambra has the factory sports suspension so I think it's very slightly lower than standard. Finally, the apron is a bit damaged so it's not a good bet for fitting the sensors. Torq Quote
