toby1966 Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I recently had my car MOTd and the only fails were one tyre and the brake lights not working. so i changed the bulbs and hey presto but for some time this has been a problem that at random times the lights will stop working,it seemed that to cure this i just had to apply more pressure to the brake pedal and this seemed to do the trick, however in ths recent bad weather when i started the car i have warning lights that the brakes are not working but after applying the brake the lights go out and i assume everything is back to normal however when i back into my drive and apply the pedal it still comes on intermittently.Any suggestions on what to check and where??many thanks  Quote

bfc1001 Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 ye id say check stoplight switch. its located just above your brake peddle and should unscrew . ther about 15 pounds for a new un. Quote
billywizzo Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 HiI would go for the brake light switch as well.Easy to change on a MK2 but make sure you get the correct one as I think there are 2 types a round one and square one. Also make sure you don't push the switch in as it is self setting and needs to be done by the pedal when fitted.
