Try getting a four wheel alignment done. I've just had mine done just for the heck of it and the car does feel a lot stedier on the road. I can't think of the name of the equipment that was used off hand. Well known but mine brains dead at the moment

Edit: Pretty sure it was Pro-Align. Lasers, mirrors and stuff. Takes about 45 minutes but well worth it.

Hi, We had a similar problem so made enquiries about 4 wheel alignment.

We were told the back end is NON - adjustable and while they'd certainly do the check, they didn't think in our case that tracking was the answer (very honest of them I thought, They could just have done it and charged us), so perhaps chrispb has a good point with the shockers.

Best of luck

Hopping - usually shock asorbers.

Drifting - possibly "crabbing" due to bad alignment (yes...its non adjustable)caused by a sideways bang on a kerb as previously suggested.

Or maybe its just crap tyres which may also explain the uneven wear.

What make/model/size and LOAD INDEX are they and are you running the correct pressures?

Also its possible youve got asymetrical tyres that are put on the wrong way (look for the word inside or outside on the wall of the tyre)

I have had excess outer wear on the rear drivers side from, new noticeable at around every 20,000 miles.

I make sure I have symmetrical tyres ( as the originals) and can then reverse the wheel on the rim.

Sorry...i'm no mechanic but i was told i'd need REINFORCED (or Extra Load) tyres or perhaps this excess wearing would happen to any non-reinforced tyres i chose to fit  ?

Perhaps it's as simple as that with wrong tyre pressures exacerbating the problem?

I've had the Dunlop 2020 Sport Reinforced so far but they've stopped making them....saw on Blackcircles that they have a GT Champiro Reinforced 215/55/R16 97H at only
