Ginettamad Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Well now the car has thawed the nice frost has bust apart my rear washer water line somwhere from front to back? Can anyone remind me of all the places where the pipe joints are that can come apart after being frozen? No water reaching the wiper now?On my MK1 it has one just under the dash passenger side but not sure on a MK2? No sign of water in the car so far thankfully but the reservior has drained quick recently? Hope that hasn't split? We did record about minus 17 here one night so the washer antifreeze was not strong enough!Harvey Quote

mikej Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 passenger footwell as usual, if you have wet carpet already use whole news papers placed under it to dry it out, change daily and you'll be suprised how well this works . :) Quote
Sher Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 The most common is the n/s/f passenger floor I have fixed that one (15 minutes or so) but there seems to be a reduced amount of Rear screen liquid and a strong smell of screen cleaner fluid when I open the Rear. Most time consuming problem was wrapping myself up against the elements. Anywhere else down the line? I use a screen cleaner I buy in France good for -60C (it says) undiluted, and -20C when 1:1. Unfortunately over the summer I had must have neglected the top up mix since the rear screen wash stopped when the temperature dropped dramatically a couple of weeks ago. It was less than -10C. Quote
Mirez Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 For some insane reason there are 3 joins in that pipe! 1) N/S/F Footwell2) NS/R D Pillar (Some don't seem to have this for whatever reason)3) N/S of Tailgate - roughly in line with the mid point of the screen Plus of course the two ends where it exits the bottle and enters the motor assembly. A common fault from Mk4 Golf's where the pipe either falls off or the plastic breaks at the motor - and guess what? Its the same motor assembly used on the galaxy... Quote
edatelder Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Mine leaks out of the tailgate and into the the dished recess where the rear door catch is. Quote
