Mk 3 Wheels On Mk 2?

Hi guys, Rob, newbie here. Just posted this in the questions section but thought perhaps that was not the correct one. I've got an '04 mk 2 with 19" alloys and want to change to 16". I've found a set of 16" with good tires faily local off a mk 3 but I'm not sure if they'll fit my older model. They're five stud as mine are but I'm not sure of the sizes, if they'll match. I made this mistake some years ago with my Landy Disco after driving a long way to pick them up so once bitten, twice shy, as they say!

One other point, the car sits lower than normal so would I have to adjust/change springs or anything? The guy I bought it off seemed to think not when I mentioned I may be changing the wheel size as I live in the sticks.

Doubtful, Mk II are VW design, MkIII is a Ford design.
