Mk 3 Wheels On A Mk 2?

Hi all, Rob, newbie here. I've currently got an '04 mk 2 and need to change the wheels from the 19" alloys it came with to some 16". I've found a used set almost local and wondered, as they're off a mk 3, if they'd fit my mk 2. They're five stud, same as mine but I was concerned that they might not fit. Had this happen to me with my Landy Disco after driving sodding miles to pick 'em up!

Also, the car sits lower than normal, so will I have to change springs or whatever?

Don't think they'll fit - The Mk2 is a Volkswagen with a Ford Badge on it so has VW fitment wheels. The Mk3 is a Ford so has ford fitment wheels
