Have you taken the under felt out? If not do so. You will have to cut along the centre console as the felt covers the entire width of the car. Get a hose and pour it on top of the sunroof. You should be able to see the water accumulate. Let me know how you get on. The other entry point is a bolt that holds the brake servo unit bracket. you will see this bolt on the inside of the car.Best of luck Edited November 7, 2010 by Shabazmo Quote

nicebutdim Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Also check the covers that go over the windscreen wiper spindles. They have square plastic clips that go into the body next to the windscreen, the water comes in through these too. I pulled out the clips, then filled the cavity underneath with half a tube of silicone sealant until it nearly came out of the hole, and pushed the plastic clip into it. 5 minute job after 2 weeks of searching! newbie Posted November 13, 2010 Author Report Posted November 13, 2010 Hi all, thanks for the replies. I took the carpet up and the underlay, and waited for it to rain. (as I do not have a hose pipe) And couldn't see where it was coming in. It wasn't coming in as the rain was pouring. But seemed to be coming in from here (picture 1) I took my car for an MOT today and it flew through (very happy) the MOT tester said its faultless, and the emissions are remarkable. anyways whilst I could get under the car I had a good look. And maybe found the problem. See the picture attached. This is in the front wheel arch, I took that cover over to get at it. There was water in there when I took it off. My question is now, would water get in here? and would the lead to the footwell. I'm going to set to work at repairing that asap. Quote
gregers Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 i think maybe your drain holes maybe blocked, under the bonnet and under the scuttle area either side are drain holes iirc in the whhel arches is a flap that you can get your hand in there to clear the crud out, maybe also use some wire to gently poke down through the holes? Quote
newbie Posted November 14, 2010 Author Report Posted November 14, 2010 I've tried that and they are clear, I've just checked this morning (raining here last night) and there was a little water in there (only a little as I have made a drainage hole). The stopper behind the accelerator pedal, how do I get this off? I think water is coming in from there? Also my carpet is pretty much had it, does anyone know where I can get some more? (apart from main dealer as they want around Quote

newbie Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) Sorry to drag this back up. But i'm still having problems!!! After more searching in the car (when I get time, as had a new baby born a few months ago) I can see where the water is coming in.. Sort of. Pics below. Theres a bolt where i'm pointing, there seems to be a panal that the water is coming in from behind. I was waiting in the car when it rained and managed to see it coming in slow but constant. I'm not sure how to get to the otherside as its right at the bottom. And there is a cover of sorts on the bottom of the car. Any thoughts? Edited January 27, 2011 by newbie Quote
billywizzo Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 HiHave you checked the windscreen for leaks.I am not sure about how the MK2 screen is fitted but my old MK1 windscreen became dis-bonded and it was leaking from there.Took me ages to find it and needed a new windscreen fitted to cure it.It was not obvious it was from the window as it looked like it was coming from somewhere else. Happened to push on the screen while looking for the leak and felt it move.Just a thought to try and help out.Bill Quote
newbie Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 I had thoughts it might be somthing to do with the wind screen. As I notice most of the time the bottom of the windscreen on the drivers side in the corner (if that makes sense) is steamed up. I will check it out tomorrow in the light and let you know. Quote
newbie Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 I checked out the windscreen and it seems to be fine. This is really getting to me. I've had to bin the carpet and underlay. But luckily in my local spares shop they have a galaxy in, so can get cheap parts.Any other thoughts??? Quote
Shabazmo Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) I had the exactly same problem about 8 years ago om my Galaxy. I found the leak and took it to the Ford dealership. They removed the bolt and put some rubber or silicone sealant on the threads and screwed it back in, which I thought was a poor remedy, but since them, no more problems. Trust me my car has now done 206,000 miles and no problems have arrisen since then. Edited January 30, 2011 by Shabazmo Quote
newbie Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Which bolt should i remove? There's one below where i'm pointing. where i'm pointing that bolt is welded on and the water seems to be coming from behind that panal. Quote
Shabazmo Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 It is the bolt below where you are pointing. that is where my drips were comming from Quote
newbie Posted February 2, 2011 Author Report Posted February 2, 2011 damn. My leak is def coming from behind that bolt i'm pointing too. If that wasn't bad enough i've spotted anther leak. This one is coming from behind the fuse box. this one is very slow. guess i'm gonna have to take my car apart even further Quote
Shabazmo Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 If the water is coming from behind the fuse box, this could be the drain pipes being disconnected from the sunroof. Quote
newbie Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 Hey again, I opened the sunroof and poured a few litres of water down the drain's . And nothing came inside. I'm really at a loss here it driving me nuts. Quote

I'm really at a loss here it driving me nuts. Did water come out of each of the wheel arches. That is where the drain pipes exit. Quote
newbie Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Yeah, it came out of the wheel arch's and not a drip came inside. It was slow a little slow draining and the right side. But when I say slow i mean a few seconds before it cleared. Quote
Csillagharcos Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Hi Everybody, I`ve got the same proble, and I find it very frustrating. Very good car but this shouldn`t happen. I took the carpet and the underlay out and did a bit of a investigating. It seem to me, that the water is coming from behind the break servo dish, which seems very strange. I also can hear a sloshing noise when the car is turned right when I pull out of the car park, followed by a little bit of water. Until recently, id did not bother me, because I thought that isn`t much water, but...few weeks ago, it felt really soggy. Has anyone experienced the same??? So today I took the carpet and the felt out and it was soaking wet. very disgusting in deed! So, someone posted, that the other entry point is the breakservo, and I feel releived, that the cause seems close and I can keep her dry. My dad`s Lada had a hole in the floor, once it was very rainy and I felt a big hit under my foot, which turned otu to be water from the road. I feel a bit similar. Quote
newbie Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Posted February 17, 2011 still can't find the leak. will be taaking it to the garage in a few days, see if they can find it. Will let you know how i get on Quote
newbie Posted February 27, 2011 Author Report Posted February 27, 2011 The guy in the garage had a look, but didn't find it either!!!!!!!!! my last resort now is to head to the main bloody dealer. If anyone has any other thought please let me know? Quote
