seatkid Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 1 what type of oil is best for 1.9tdi and how many (lt) dos the engine take. You must use an oil that meets VW spec 505.01 (or expensive longlife 507.00). 505.00 oil is NOT suitable. These are high shear tolerant oils that are designed specially for PD engines. If you use an oil that does not meet one of these specs then you risk damage to the camshaft that drives the PD injectors. Quantum Platinum oil is a reasonably priced (around Quote

Fully synthetic SAE 5W-40 for PD engines 4.3 litres with filter change.2. You can but I would just get the engine hot and let it drain right out, change the filter while your waiting. if you do flush use the same oil for refil.3. You should look up under the back of the engine for any leaks while the undersheild is off.4. Lots of tricky fiddly bits but if it's running OK leave it alone Quote
