Maf Sensor

Got fed up with the lack of performance of my 1.9tdi so I took the plunge and replaced the MAF sensor.

The car would actually slow down on hills and I'd have to change down a gear

What a difference - unbelievable! Cost just over 80squid from VW but well worth it.

It's like having a new car!!

Hope its the same for me, new maf should arrive today which cost

Hope its the same for me, new maf should arrive today which cost £43 paying for just the sensor not the casing.

Cars been flat on the hills for sometime now, iv changed the plugs, replaced the coil pack (because of several cracks) so hope changing the maf will make a difference.

Fingers crossed.

Well new MAF arrived, put that in and yeh it made a difference on the flat that is

but it still struggles on the hills sometimes feels like its holding back and abit juddery.

Thinking of changing leads next which are only 12 months old.

Now that my gal works ok I thought the problem I had with my vag com would dissapear.

When I try to communicate with it using my free version from Ross Tech all I get is the following message for every thing I try - 'Excessive Comm Errors"

I thought this was because the MAF sensor had been faulty for too long and it had built up a 'back log ' of faults!!

Anybody any ideas - it has worked before. Would disconnecting the battery for a while maybe clear them?

I think the problem is your laptop (software or setup) or the lead you are using.

Hi there

Had exactly the same with my vag-com when I first installed it on my lap top, the program was so slow reacting every click of the mouse was a good 15-20 seconds before any reaction which always ended with excessive comm errors.

As there's no uninstall for the program I done a total format of the hard drive, reinstalled everything now working OK

Seatkid - I thought about your comments.

I decided to start again and deleted the version I had anyway(311-2 I think) and downloaded the free version of VCDS Lite version 1 and hey presto, all now ok. Can only look at a few things but it's all I need for now.
