janeeb Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Hi guysCan anyone tell me if they have tried to re-gas their V6 2.8 galaxy with a home kit. If so where did you find the valve (there are two apparently and I can only see one) Anyone have any ideas I would be grateful.Cheers Quote
RADIOTWO Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 I would not even bother ! First you cannot measure how much gas is going in, but the system should be vacuumed out to detect the leaks (or why would you want to top it upany way) and then when you refill with the gas it needs measuring and oil needs adding as well. Other than it being illegal to let the gas out your self, its easer just to take to a expert ! Radiotwo Quote
chrispb123456 Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Hi thereAs radiotwo said waste of money, the specialist will be able to tell you if you have a leak usually from the drier/condenser or may be a fractured pipe, if your really unlucky the evaporator leaking, that means total removal of the dash and heater unit, they will finish off by adding a fluorescent dye which will aid diagnosing any future leak. I have a number for a mobile aircon fitter in the Maidstone area of Kent. Any one who needs this service can PM me for the details. Quote
bingo nightly Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I tried re gassing my v6 with Halfords cans when I first got it. I ended up snapping the handle off the can and they gave me a refund. It was all a bit of a waste of time.Given the numerous problems that occur with the Galaxy air con system I would leave it to an expert for the sake of a moderate expense. I usually do all my own work including a recent engine change, but some things are best left to those who have the proper kit. I took my car in for a re gas last week and it turns out I have a leaking connection to the receiver drier which only manifests itself under pressure. I have got to replace the pipe before they can re gas it. Quote
