Hi,

I have a 2001 Galaxy tdi .I was driving down the motorway when it just cut out, now It won't start.

I had it to a garage and they said it was the fuel pump so I have replaced the fuel pump in the fuel tank, that didn't make much difference although it does now start but cuts out after about 20 seconds.

I have checked the relays they are fine. If I connect the battery straight to the fuel pump and the car works, If i pour the diesel into where the top pump is, it works.. so both pumps are fine- yet no diesel is getting from the bottom pump to the top one.

Any ideas?

Hi there

Mk2 TDI are unit injectors therefore engine start/stop controlled by PCM.

Assuming you have changed fuel filter, also have you tried disconecting the inlet pipe to the fuel filter and turn the ignition on and off a few times, a small quantity of fuel should be pumped out every time.
