U280 Code Reader

I'm thinking of buying a U280 code reader as my engine fault light keeps iluminating on my 2002 2.8 Galaxy. Does anyone know where I connect it and if it's a OBD-II 16 pin diagnostic plug or will I need a 2x2 to 16 pin adapter?

A quick Google (and click on first link) says the one I found uses an ODB2 connector:

Never used that item, just the first one in the search results on Google when searching for U280 so if it doesn't work don't blame me <_<

Yeah I saw the one on amazon thanks. I mean is the diagnostics connector in the 2002 galaxy 2.8 16 pin, not the one on the reader.

Above the accelerator pedel. As the dash starts and centrally, just below the fuse box opening.

It's under the bottom edge of the dash in line with throttle pedal.

Any reason you want 1 of these instead of vagcom?

I don't know what a vagcom is or what it does! I just want something simple to telle what the fault is and this looks like the easiest option, just plug it in and bish bash bosh the error code appears'

Vagcom is slightly more complicated in that you need a laptop and cable however the huge benefit is that an OB2 reader will only read engine fault codes. Vagcom can talk to all the controllers in the car so its far more usefull as a diagnostic tool.

Maybe one day but cheap and simple will do for now I think. It's my engine fault light that keeps appearing so the code reader should do the job.
