Just Idles No Power

Hi

 

I have a problem where the car will just idle (higher revs than normal) but not produce any power when the acelerator is pushed no power at all just idles. If I stop and restart the car the problem clears for about half a mile and then drops back to an idling state with the engine management light flashing on and off.

 

any ideas

Can we have some vehicle details please ie. year engine type and code.

Sounds like the Throttle Positioning sensor needs a good cleaning at the pedal.

Easy enough job to do. (Helps if you're a contortionist though!!!!!! lol)

The vehicle is a 1.9tdi Galaxy W reg 115.

You may have a faulty brake light switch, this is a common problem.
