mk2vr6 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 well so far there have been a few suggestions of how to deal with the problem ;) so here's how not to! first off you need no brain cells and access to cutting tools http://whitetrashrepairs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/329.jpg then cut away the rim while the tyres still inflated and the wieght of the vehicle is still on the wheel your working on http://whitetrashrepairs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/330.jpg Quote
kebrina Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Crikey. While we're on the topic though, just had mine serviced and apparently it's got NO locking wheel nuts at all. They are all missing. There are only four nuts on each wheel (I've a feeling the people who sold it to me either pinched them, or took them off to do something to something and forgot to replace them). Where can I get some locking wheel nuts from at a good price, and are they self fittable, or do I need a special tool? (Like a man?) Quote
Jayton Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Mine is also missing a bolt on each wheel... and they've ruined the thread removing the old locking wheel bolts ;) Quote
Floydey Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Search eBay for "Galaxy locking wheel nuts" Link Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Think you mean locking wheel bolts not nuts ;) Quote
swagger Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 why didnt you just buy a wheel lock remover simples well so far there have been a few suggestions of how to deal with the problem ;) so here's how not to! first off you need no brain cells and access to cutting tools http://whitetrashrepairs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/329.jpg then cut away the rim while the tyres still inflated and the wieght of the vehicle is still on the wheel your working on http://whitetrashrepairs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/330.jpg Quote
cyborg Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 he should have left the wheel and cut away car ;) Or welded a bolt to the locking bolt and then undid ! Quote
Mirez Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) You can replace them with a set of locking wheel nuts for a galaxy/sharan or just 4 normal bolts Edited May 23, 2010 by Mirez Quote
JRWR Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Some of you have only 5 wheel bolts? Ha! Each of my wheels has 10 (albeit rather small) wheel bolts ... Quote
kebrina Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Mirez, I know it's dangerous, and I asked my garage why it had managed to sail through it's MOT with four nuts missing. He said because the wheels have got the cover thingy in the centre you can't see the nuts/bolts whatever they are called and the MOTing people are not allowed to touch the trim or remove it. Makes the point of an MOT rather moot. He said if you could get a car there with just one bolt on each wheel it would still pass, as long as they couldn't see it. Anywho, will any standard set of nots/bolts fit my smashing alloys? I think they are factory standard, not retrofit. I really wanna get this sorted, and I'm with you on the not having locking ones anyway... Quote
Jayton Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Check the thread on the bolt holes, I need to get this sorted no thanks to the ruddy last owner. Quote
