The motors on the lamps are VW Golf Mk4 parts - the part number on mine started with 1J0. GSF/Euro car parts? Trade Parts Supply?

make sure you set the roller inside to its lowest setting, because when you take them apart you will not remember how it was set,i hope that makes sense?

when i done mine i had to take it apart again,im sure you will see what i mean when you do the job.

Thanks for that Greg, I'll have to rejoin the wiring inside the headlamp unit first as I disconnected them about 2 years ago for the MOT. They were both doing that whirring noise and the beams were going up and down on there own, thought it was about time I sorted them out ;)

Hi All

update.

Removed both headlights rejoined the three wires (soldered) in each lamp, removed motors on looking inside they look like brand new, anyway cleaned the little variable resistor with switch cleaner and a bit of grease on the motor gear.

Refitted motors and test, 1 working as normal the other doing the whirring up and down constantly until I give it a thump.

Refit lamps into car, test again 1 working the other intermittant bugger, order new motor from Frauds and fitted yesterday, both working  now for how long??
