Faulty Rear Electric Window ,help!

Hi All ,We have a 1999 Ghia X for a couple of weeks the passenger side rear electric window has stopped working ,just now I went to move the car in the drive and the window went a bit ape! it started moving up and down not far about 2"all by its self ,no switches were touched , but it has stopped with a 2" gap at the top of the window (in the open position). I have gone too each switch in turn , on the dash and in the door and there is no life at all .

 

Can anybody help so as I can at least get the window closed .

is it a MK1 ?

 

if it is try disconnecting the black control box under the passengers seat, its the control for central locking , but mine had a water leak to which it damaged this unit and made all my windows open and shut like it was possessed, if you disconnect it the central locking with be shut off, but the windows will operate as normal...

 

if it isnt, i am not sure what it could be but the rest of the guys will comment , just post back what galaxy u have

I have a similar problem with the rear off side window, sometimes it worked with the drivers control then it wouldnt and only worked with the rear door control then it didnt, then only worked with the drivers control now neither of the switches work for the rear off side window. The windows still work by using the key in the drivers door so i know its not the motor at fault. not too good at car electrics but will look at replacing the switches eventually.

Check for broken wiring in drivers door trunking first, help in FAQ section for this
