Hi I have a 03 plate Galaxy and it has started to make a noise and vibrate a little through the steering wheel when turing right or left, I have checked the tyre pressue thats ok, I replaced the Belt Tensenior that seemed to work for 100 miles but its now back, Power steering level is ok, does anyone have any ideas what is making this noise ?????? Or is it just a common fault

Check make sure pump is tight and not worked loose.

Check make sure pump is tight and not worked loose.

Do you mean power steering pump ??? if so i will check thank you

Alternator and belt tensioner are not the same thing

Alternator Pulley and belt tensioner are the same sorry ,

We are talking about a Galaxy here? may help to know what engine you got iirc all engines have an auxilary drive belt tensioner and a fixed position alternator.

Definitely separate the alternator pulley is attached to the alternator, the tensioner pulley is a separate unit behind alternator.

Do you know were I can get some pictures of these pulleys can only see 1 the one on the left of alternator, Which the belt runs through ??????

As I said, probably the alternator pulley (which is most definitely not the same as the belt tensioner).

Thanks tim looks like you were right , Ring a ford dealer and he told me they do not sell the pulley on its own have to buy a new alternator I do not think they are right any ideas ??????

yes.

buy the tensioner from vw,and the pulley and belt from gsf.you also need the spline tool.read the thread i posted and all will be revealed.
