was towing my caravan this weekend and pumped up the tyres to the recommended pressure of 45psi on the rear, now after a few miles the tyres get warm and heat up and so the pressure rises, the onboard computer said 49 psi, this is nearly 10% too high, do i put less in when the tyres are cold to compensate or is this 49psi ok

Hi there recommended tyre pressures are allways from cold I wouldn't reduce pressures but check the nose weight on the coupling you may be exceeding the recommended maximum

Doesn't the Owners handbook say that tyre pressure should be 3 psi above recommended when towing a caravan.

Therefore 48 psi would be the correct pressure.....near enough 49 don't know how accurate the tyre pressure monitor is.
